Message from the Head Teacher

Freshsteps Sixth Form HUB:

An environment where all students reach their full potential and achieve academically regardless of their ability.

To provide an environment which is creative, conducive to learning and dynamic enabling young people to work in their community independently.

Freshsteps Independent school has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted since 2017. Although small compared to other our Curriculum is tailored to ensure that each and every pupil reaches their full potential regardless of their starting point.

The sixth form Hub is for pupils with an Education Health Care Plan and all within the main area of need in social, emotional and mental health.

Our courses such as the AQA Unit awards enables us to teach groups or individuals on a wide variety of topics and to evidence to the students how well they can learn, providing them with a real sense of achievement.

Freshsteps Sixth Form will implement a comprehensive careers and employability programme that will upskill any student.

Where we claim to be apart from other sixth forms, we cater for SEND students. Each learning space has been created to mimic Industry, and in everyday life.

All students will be able to access a tailored Careers Information and Guidance Programme. in addition to this as we are a licence DofE award scheme, (Duke of Edinburgh) will form part of our enrichment programme where students will be able to attain bronze, Silver or Gold awards for their achievements. All students will participate and have access to the Enrichment DofE award scheme, this will allow them to volunteer within a range of different contexts, not only be within the school, but within our community, the DofE programme will afford students the opportunity to develop soft skills such as; resilience, confidence, team work, tolerance, communication, integrity and leadership.

The sixth form is a tangible reminder of our mission…to inspire a lifelong passion for learning and help our SEND students become the best version of themselves, with integrity and responsibility at the core.
