Facebook, CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection)

CEOP aims to enhance Online safety for young people using Facebook. The ‘Click CEOP’ application offers support for issues such as viruses, hacking, and cyberbullying, and enables users to report inappropriate online behavior directly.

Key Features of the ‘Click CEOP’ App:

  1. Download and Access: The app is free to download and integrates with Facebook. Users will see the ‘Click CEOP’ tab on their profile page once added.
  2. Share and Bookmark: Users can share the app with their friends through their newsfeeds and bookmark it for easy access to help and advice.

On-line Safety at FreshSteps

At FreshSteps, we are committed to ensuring the safety of our students in the digital world. We emphasize the importance of appropriate online behavior and educate students on managing online risks. Our Online-Safety approach addresses three main areas:

  1. Content: Risks related to exposure to inappropriate material such as pornography, violence, self-harm, hate speech, and substance abuse.
  2. Contact: Risks from inappropriate online interactions including grooming, cyberbullying, hacking, and identity theft.
  3. Conduct: Risks from online behaviors such as privacy issues, copyright violations, digital footprints, and sexting.

Provision at FreshSteps

  1. Systems & Infrastructure:
    • ICT Policy: We have a rigorous ICT policy integrated with behavior, safeguarding, and anti-bullying policies. Students and parents agree to the ‘Acceptable Use Policy of Digital Devices and ICT Systems’ upon login.
    • Internet Filtering: LGFL Filtering. https://lgfl.net/safeguarding/kcsie/web-filtering
  2. Students:
    • Education: Online safety is included in the ICT curriculum and taught through assemblies. Students participate in E-Safety surveys, with findings shared with them. ICT rules are prominently displayed in computer suites.
  3. Parents:
    • Awareness: We work closely with parents to raise awareness about E-Safety. We organize coffee sessions with staff and provide guidance through school bulletins and the school website.
  4. Staff:
    • Training: Staff receive regular training on On-line issues to ensure they are equipped to support students effectively.
