ICT/Technology Overview
Intent
At FreshSteps, we recognize that technology plays a central role in our students' daily lives, and we aim to equip them with the skills to use it positively, responsibly, and safely. Our goal is to prepare pupils for the future by ensuring they can:
- Use technology purposefully to create, organize, store, manipulate, and retrieve digital content.
- Recognize common uses of information technology beyond the school environment.
- Safely and respectfully navigate technology, protect personal information, and know where to seek help when faced with concerns online.
- Create and debug simple programs.
- Design and write programs to accomplish specific tasks.
- Understand how computer networks function, including the internet and the services they provide, such as the World Wide Web, and explore opportunities for communication and collaboration.
We believe that technology offers vital accessibility and learning opportunities. At FreshSteps, we teach students to find a healthy balance with technology, modeling positive use and encouraging them to make informed decisions when engaging with it.
Implementation
At FreshSteps, ICT is integrated throughout the curriculum, with technology incorporated into everyday learning. Pupils have access to various digital devices, helping them build fundamental ICT skills and apply these in practical, goal-oriented tasks. Our approach ensures pupils can:
