ICT/Technology Overview

Intent

At FreshSteps, we recognize that technology plays a central role in our students' daily lives, and we aim to equip them with the skills to use it positively, responsibly, and safely. Our goal is to prepare pupils for the future by ensuring they can:

  • Use technology purposefully to create, organize, store, manipulate, and retrieve digital content.
  • Recognize common uses of information technology beyond the school environment.
  • Safely and respectfully navigate technology, protect personal information, and know where to seek help when faced with concerns online.
  • Create and debug simple programs.
  • Design and write programs to accomplish specific tasks.
  • Understand how computer networks function, including the internet and the services they provide, such as the World Wide Web, and explore opportunities for communication and collaboration.

We believe that technology offers vital accessibility and learning opportunities. At FreshSteps, we teach students to find a healthy balance with technology, modeling positive use and encouraging them to make informed decisions when engaging with it.

  • Be safe and responsible users of digital technology through structured e-safety lessons.
  • Collaborate and create a range of digital content using appropriate technological tools.
  • Understand how computers are connected, how the internet works, and its key components.

  • Interactive whiteboards

These devices are available during lessons and breaks, always under adult supervision to ensure safe and productive use.
